Consulting firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas will provide a sneak peak into the employment sector as it is expected to release a report on August layoffs. The US Labor Department is also expected to release its monthly jobs report on Friday.

Major automakers, including General Motors, Ford Motor, and Toyota, will report their figures on August US sales throughout the day.

The US Commerce Department will also release its latest reports on factory orders and inventories from July. Investors and economists will be looking to the reports and others to offer more insight into the current state of the economy.
