A new 70,000 square-foot vehicle
production plant will bring more than 122 new jobs to the Brunswick area. Automobile maker Mercedes-Benz plans to produce more than 50,000 cars, creating the need to hire
78 workers for the on-site facility, as well as creating 44 indirect jobs.
The company plans to begin production in the summer of 2009, and will replace the Jacksonville facility.
The US Maritime Administration estimates that when production gets underway, the area will generate more than $1.5 million in state and local taxes.
