Delphi Corp. announced that it plans to lay off approximately 600 of its 3,200 salaried workers. These layoffs are said to be caused by the decrease in automotive demand throughout the US.
The layoffs are primarily going to be made in Delphi’s electronics and safety divisions, in the hopes of cutting their costs by 25%.
Unfortunately, a majority of the job cuts are from Delphi’s plant in Kokomo, Indiana, which employs 2,500 white-collar workers. Plants in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Ohio will also be affected.
