Three hundred and fifty Ford workers who were supposed to report for the first day of their orientation week discovered that training was delayed at the Toronto-area plant.
The new recruits had anticipated high sales of the automaker’s new Ford Flex, Ford Edge, and Lincoln MKX. However, Ford Canada experienced poor auto sales and postponed its third Flex shift.
According to the Windsor Star, Ford Canada says that those workers from Windsor will not be affected because they will be able to relocate most of them to the Oakville location.
Earlier today it was reported on MSN.com that Ford experienced a huge loss of $8.7 billion in three months.
Soaring gas prices have led consumers to shy away from purchasing sport-utility vehicles and trucks in favor of the more economical, and smaller, fuel efficient cars.
