Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic - Tracked VehiclesJob Summary: The Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic – Tracked

Vehicles is responsible for the diagnostics, repairs, and inspections of

completed repairs for military wheeled and tracked equipment.  Works along with team members, and sets the

pace.  Troubleshoots malfunctions and

makes repairs to ground support equipment using conventional and digital

multi-meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit

card testers, transistor testers, and hand tools.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by

assignment or contract.)Uses automated Logistics Information System to maintain

equipment records, and document maintenance actions, maintains external fuel

and grounding systems. Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on wheeled

vehicles, trailers, power generation equipment and tracked equipment including

M1A1’s,M2’s, M113’s and M88 A1/A2.Inspects, tests, and operates wheeled and tracked

vehicles to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation. Inspects and validates maintenance repairs and services

completed on ground support equipment.Services equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant,

hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air, disassembles and assembles

malfunctioning GSE accessories and components. Removes, disassembles repairs, cleans, treats for

corrosion, assembles, and reinstalls GSE components and accessories. Stencils and marks GSE in accordance with technical

publications, stores, handles, labels, uses. Prepares GSE for storage and transportation. Disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance

with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and

regulations. Operates, cleans, inspects, and services ground support

equipment for maintenance purposes. Practices good housekeeping, property accountability

control, Foreign Object Damage prevention and safety at all times. Additional responsibilities include working with a

variety of repair and test equipment including welders, torches, pressure

testers and electrical testers to name a few. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 ','!*!Minimum Qualifications:At least four years of experience in tracked vehicle maintenance or an equivalent.High school diploma or equivalent. Must be proficient in servicing, troubleshooting and repairing military wheeled and tracked vehicles.Should be proficient in electrical troubleshooting and repair of ground support equipment such as mobile electric power plants and other self-propelled/non self-propelled equipment.Must be familiar with the use of electronic technical manuals.Must have or able to obtain and maintain a US Secret Clearance.Must possess a valid State Driver’s License, Commercial Driver’s License preferred. Working Conditions:In order to transport company vehicles, operate control room consoles and inspect electrical circuits, GSE Mechanics must have the ability to distinguish colors red, green, yellow, white and blue.  Must be able to climb up and down ladders and stairs as well as bend, twist, pull, push and lift items weighing up to 100 lbs.Must be able to work in confined spaces. Must be able to perform all job functions in variable weather conditions as well as in environmental conditions such as engine fumes, vehicle emissions and dust.
