SUMMARY:

The Service Forklift Battery Watering Technician will troubleshoot, repair, and perform scheduled maintenance on forklift batteries. Use testing equipment, tools, and welding equipment to perform diagnostic tests and perform repairs as needed. Operate trucks, forklifts and other heavy equipment to make deliveries to customers on occasion. 

SKILLS / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform regular maintenance on forklift batteries by checking electrolyte levels, watering cells if necessary, checking for residue on battery cases and cleaning if necessary. Measure specific gravity with hydrometer.

Thoroughly inspect batteries, looking for signs of corrosion on terminals. Check connectors and cables for damage.

Wash batteries as needed.

Perform other duties as required.

Maintain clean and safe working environment.

Use manuals, repair manuals, parts manuals, parts diagrams to troubleshoot components.

Safely use lift trucks, overhead cranes, & other aides to lift or move batteries into position to be repaired.

 Use miscellaneous resources & computers to reference parts, get information about batteries & enter data.

Climb up onto, under, & into vehicles, use hand & power tools to disassemble/reassemble

Attend training classes and keep current on product advancements.

Must be a team player and have excellent interpersonal and communications skills

World class customer service and ability to maintain positive working relationships

Must be able to pass a DOT physical and drug screen

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Must have working knowledge of electrical circuits and electronics. Previous forklift experience preferred.

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION / LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or GED

WORK CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work is performed in a maintenance shop environment with potential exposure to moving mechanical parts, dust, fumes, chemicals, and solvents which require proper knowledge of safety procedures. Must have the physical ability to perform continuously with full body motion for climbing, reaching, pushing and lifting. Specific vision abilities required for this job, include close vision, distance vision color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift 75 lbs and occasionally, in excess of 75 lbs. Must be able to pass a DOT physical and Drug Screen.  The noise level in the workplace is usually moderate.
