The Autonomous Driving Group is looking for an Engineering Technician who will be responsible for modifying, assembling, and troubleshooting prototype cars with custom electro-mechanical components which will be fabricated by the technician, or purchased from external suppliers.

Candidates will be working on creating prototype cars for research and development. Main car to be used is the Ford Fusion. They will be working in an auto mechanic garage with 6 bays. Main activities will be to pull things apart, make modifications, put them back together and then do some basic testing. They will work alongside Intel engineers and will be supervised at all times.

Will be building around 2 cars per month.

The ideal candidate is a proven self-starter who:

Has passion for customizing and modifying cars, boats, or Motorized cycles

Enjoys building and troubleshooting customized electronics - like a gaming computer or AV equipment

Is a craftsman experienced in operating wide range of tools to ranging from metal work to carpentry, PCBA rework to cable harness fabrication and routing

Is meticulously organized, with attention to detail, fit, and finish

Uses and manages their time efficiently and effectively with limited direction

Provides outstanding customer services

Comes from an automotive background with any of the major car makers. (Tesla, Nvidia, Ford, GM, etc)


Fabricate cables, junction boxes, jigs, and brackets, and install them onto cars

Assist product hardware team on prototyping, bring-up, debugging, and rework

Assemble mechanical and electrical test fixtures and setups to facilitate product testing

Test electrical system and boards with a variety of analytical lab equipment (examples: power supplies, meters, electrical loads, etc.)

Keep the lab clean, organized, and fully equipped with tools and supplies

Execute detailed test procedures and accurately record/prepare test results and data analysis

Create and maintain inventory tracking of lab assets

Enforce lab safety, clean up, and compliance policies

Work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision

Report status to the manager on a regular basis


Hands-on builder able to remove, modify, and assemble vehicle components and prototypes

Skillful in operation of hand tools, bench tools, and soldering equipment

Practiced in making wiring harnesses, crimping, splicing, insulation, taping, and etc.

Takes pride and craftsmanship in their work while being able to complete projects on a tight schedule

Able to juggle multiple projects efficiently

Positive can-do attitude

Basic knowledge of electronics and ability to troubleshooting electrical circuits down to component level

Excellent soldering & rework skills:

Ability to execute complex, detailed test procedures with just enough input from engineering

Familiarity with proper laboratory safety and housekeeping practices

Able to organize and manage a lab environment to ensure high productivity for multiple engineering teams

Professional and reliable work ethic

Knowledge in computer system maintenance, maintaining/tracking software versions, and installing

Education and experience:

HS Diploma or GED Equivalent is required for all positions.

Educational background in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or automotive technology required (AS preferred but Technical Certification is acceptable as well)

At least 3 years of relevant experience
