Typical responsibilities of an automotive controller include controlling and safeguarding of all automobile plant assets, overseeing adherence to the accounting policies and procedures, overseeing compliance with the company’s internal control program as communicated by internal audit department, managing the payroll, handling cost accounting activities, working on financial analysis and other accounting functions relating to the automotives plants, supervising the various purchase activities being undertaken by the plant, and working on P&L and balance sheet. An automotive controller typically reports to the accounting director or the vice president. An automotive controller position may be available with an automobiles manufacturer or automobile service center.
An automotive controller should have a bachelor\'s degree in finance or accounting. Excellent academic credentials are preferred. Experience of 5+ years in accounting is essential for an automotive controller position. Strong familiarity with GAAP and other accounting principles may be required.
